About
Dawn M. Dawson grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. She always enjoyed writing and even wrote her first novella in her Freshman year of High School. She graduated at the top of her class and would maintain these high academic standards for herself as she worked through her higher education. Dawn graduated from College of DuPage with her Professional Writing Certificate and completed her Bachelor’s in English and Creative Writing in the Fall of 2023.
Dawn was first misdiagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in 2012. In 2014 she experienced her first psychiatric hospitalization and immediately became moved to become an advocate for Mental Health. She began volunteering for her local National Alliance on Mental Illness affiliate in 2016. She became a Recovery Support Specialist in 2018 and has been working with individuals who have mental health concerns ever since. As a RSS, she has worked in the local hospitals, crisis centers, and engaged in public speaking. She is currently seeking the “Certified Recovery Support Specialist” credential.
Dawn currently resides with her husband and their dog and cats. She loves spending time with family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews. In her free time she likes to hike, bake, engage in local traveling, play Dungeons & Dragons, and attend sporting events, most especially the Chicago White Sox baseball games.
